What is the Answer?

Have you ever prayed a prayer and did not get an answer?  That is a crazy question isn’t it.  I think this has happened to most of us (more than once, twice, etc. etc.) Have you ever heard someone pray and you wish that you could pray like that?  They seemed to know all of the right words to say; their voice goes up and down just at the right time; their words just glide off their tongue/lips like butter; their tears just flow so beautifully down there face; and you are so sure, that the heavenly Father is sitting there on his throne telling all of his angels, “Come, sit and listen to this wonderful prayer.”

Well, I am guilty of both of these questions.  I sometimes get intimidated by some people’s prayer, thinking I wish I had said that.

I have prayed many times and did not get an answer.    However, I have prayed many times and did get an answer.  I am still praying about somethings, waiting on an answer.

Matthew 6:5-14 (New Living Translation)

“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.10 May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.11 Give us today the food we need, 12 and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.13 And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. 14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Here is another questions for you.  When He doesn’t answer your prayer, does that mean He is not going to answer your prayer?

You see, I have learned that when you pray, God does hear you.  We want our prayers answered right away, but sometimes, He knows that we aren’t ready.  Sometimes He will answer it immediately and then other times we just have to wait.

Matthew 7:7-8 (New Living Translation)

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

In other words, don’t give up.  Just pray the way that is comfortable for you.  Don’t try to mimic someone else.  Just be yourself.

He does, He will, and He wants to hear your prayer.
